Hand Painted Watercolor Free Printable Lunch Box Notes for Kids

It’s 2024, and a good time for my first blog post! I have spent a decent amount of time pondering what my inaugural blog post should be and when. All that thinking sorted out the “when” part of it; it was January 2024, and I still hadn’t come up with anything exciting. So I sat down with a pen and paper and wrote down the word February, and then it came to me.

A few years back, I came across an Instagram post about lunch box notes for kids, and I remember thinking it was a brilliant idea. However, I had a toddler then who couldn’t read, so I never tried it. Now I have two kids, both able to read—well, my 4-year-old is trying to. She can read simple sentences, and I remembered this idea while thinking of new things to try in 2024.

I am a planner, and I especially love planning for the new year. Sending lunchbox notes to my kids was one at the top of my list. Kids love to hear how much we love them—endlessly. It’s something we, as parents, should definitely do more in this busy world. I can actually see their excited faces when they find a note in their lunchbox and the everyday anticipation of finding a new one. Given schools make a hoopla out of Valentine's Day, I thought February would be a great month to try the notes.

Lunch Box Notes for Kids

Tell your kids how much you love them every day for the 28 days of February!

Given I am an artist, nothing is ever a simple note. I started brainstorming ideas on how I would like to do this. Heart-shaped notes? I can almost hear the squeals from my girls. And then the thought extended to why not send out a free template to anyone who wishes to use them!

So I put together a note for each day in February, plus four extra notes, in case anyone wants to try this during a different month. I have created two different sets with 32 love notes, one set for early readers, who can string simple sentences together, and another set with a few slightly longer words and a few common classics.
